Sacramental Life

Baptism

Parents must attend a preparation session before the baptism.

Reconciliation

  • 1-2 p.m. Saturdays in English and Spanish

Eucharist

The Eucharist is celebrated every weekend in English on Saturday at 3:30 p.m and, Sunday at 9:30 a.m.; in Spanish on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

We also celebrate Bilingual Unity Masses several times a year to celebrate our shared faith and our beautifully diverse community. Our Unity Masses offer a celebration of the Word of God proclaimed,  our prayers spoken, and our songs sung in both English and Spanish, and shared Eucharist. It is a joyful celebration!

Confirmation

Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation for young people  takes place in through our Faith Formation program.

Adults who have not been confirmed or who wish to come into full communion with the Catholic Church from another faith background or Christian denomination, or those who have no faith background, are invited to explore the Catholic Church through our RCIA program.

Marriage

A preparation time of six months in advance of the wedding date  is required.

Anointing of the Sick

At Ascension, we offer a communal celebration of the sacrament of  Anointing of the Sick in the fall and again in  mid-to-late winter during weekend Masses. All who are suffering  from physical or mental illness are invited to receive the sacrament, which provides strength and healing. The Oil of the Sick is put on the forehead and palms while the minister of anointing offers a prayer for healing.

Hospitalized and homebound parishioners may request anointing as the need arises.  To request the sacrament, please call the parish office at 612 529-9684 (English) or 612 424-6211 (Spanish).

NOTE:  If you call outside of office hours, please listen to the recorded message as there is an emergency answering service who will notify a priest or pastoral staff member.

Funerals

Arrangements may be made by a family member or  friend on behalf of the family of the deceased.
