Higgins, Genevieve M. “Ginette” age 93, of Mpls. passed away Jan. 24, 2016. Preceded in death by Robert, her beloved husband of 54 years; brother, Charles Berthelin; and sister, Lucette DiMarino. Survived by children, Chuck (Pat), Mike (Cathy), Marie-Therese (Denis) Lefebvre; grandchildren, Dawn, Jennifer, Erin, Catherine, Colin, Geoffrey, Mariah and Galen; and great-grandchildren. Ginette was a longtime member of the Church of the Ascension and the Rosary Society. She was an assistant coordinator for Franciscan retreats. Her memberships also included the Society of the Little Flower and the French War Bride’s Club. She was a devoted wife and mother: self-sacrificing and generous with family and friends. She was a highly intelligent person, very well read and a devotee of music, especially classical music. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday (1/30), 10 AM with visitation starting at 9 AM at the Church of the Ascension, 1723 Bryant Ave. No., Mpls. Interment Gethsemane Cemetery. Wallace H. Collier

  • Wallace H. Collier

Collier, Wallace H. 92 of Minneapolis passed away July 24, 2015. Wally served in the army for 26 years. During his military career he served in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Wally was an avid boxer and he defeated Rocky Marciano before Rocky became a world champion. Upon retiring from the military, Wally was the Dean of Students at North High School. Wally is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Luella; sons Walter and Mathew (Lah); grandchildren; great grandchildren; many relatives and friends. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Dennis Earley

Preceded in death by parents Dennis and Margaret Earley.

Survived by Michele Severson; daughter Wendy (Nick) Graves and her children Joey, Jackie and Julia; siblings Mary (Pat) Oliver, Tom (Cathy) Earley, John (Karen) Earley, Jerry (Susan) Earley, Cathy (Mike) Higgins, Pat (Shirley) Earley and Marty (Nadine) Earley.  He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Kay Vadman

Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Bernard Vadman, Sr, who passed on Tuesday, February 24th, 2015, and her sister, Yvonne Adelmann, who passed in March 2008.


Survived by children Shelley (Hugh) Byard, Scott, Sheryl (Mark) Howard, Shawn (Ann),  Joseph, Jr. and their families; brother Dale (Joyce) Johnson of Apple Valley; grandchildren Neal Byard (Michelle Tousignant), Mathew and Michael Vadman, Nicholas and Tony Howard, Stephanie and Ashley Vadman; great-grandchildren Cassidy and Logan Byard, and Macoy JaVon Vadman; nephews Jeff (Joyce) Wang, Jerry (Katie) Moscowitz, Rand (Lauri) Johnson, Todd (Kelly) Johnson, Grant (Tracie) Johnson, their families and many beloved friends.


Kay Joan Johnson was born in Minneapolis, MN and attended Patrick Henry High School. She was happily married to Joseph Bernard Vadman, Sr. on May 3, 1952 at Ascension Catholic Church by Fr. Bonin.  Joseph and Kay shared over 63 years in love.


Kay’s career spanned over 45 years providing childcare out of her home, not to mention her devoted attention to the partnership she shared with Joseph for the years of involvement they had in the Minneapolis Star 400 Action Travel Club.


She was a very proud, hard-working mother to everyone she met. She loved time with her grandchildren as much as her own children.  Canning, pickling, cooking, baking, and holiday entertaining were a never-ending chore that became a passion for her. She loved to have coffee and cookies ready all the time to treat people.


As a family we “Thank You”, St. Therese staff, for all that you have done to care for both of our parents.  Interment Crystal Lake Cemetery.

Vadman, Joseph Bernard, Sr. 83, passed into eternal life Tuesday, Feb 24, 2015. Survived by his wife, Kay; children, Shelley, Scott, Sheryl, Shawn, Joe and their families. Shirley Picquet

Shirley Picquet (Buttweiler) 67, of Brooklyn Park passed away peacefully on 1/4/2015. Survived by beloved husband, Richard (Dick), an employee of Ascension Parish; treasured family, Rick (Heather) Picquet, Stefany (Emily) Picquet, Stacy (Paul) Coufal; she adored her grandchildren, Meghan, Elisabeth, Paul and Rosalie; siblings, Beverly (Fran) Ringwelski, Joyce (Dale) Kinney, John (Eileen) Buttweiler, Tim (Diane) Buttweiler; father-in-law, Hal Picquet; extended family and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Rita and Jack, and mother-in-law, Colette. Shirley was a woman full of energy, with a love for everyone she met. She was a 15 year survivor of lymphoma. She was a retired Certified Professional Secretary, executive administrator for 23 plus years at Health Partners, with many loving friends and co-workers. Visitation 4-7pm on Wednesday, January 7th at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH BLAINE CHAPEL 107th Avenue NE and Hwy #65. Vigil Prayers Wednesday at 6:15 PM.
