There will be a blood drive at Ascension on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 1 to 5 p.m. The drive is sponsored by English-speaking youth Faith Formation, a consolidated program that includes Church of the Ascension, the Parish Community of St. Bridget, and Our Lady of Victory Church. Memorial Blood Centers will be conducting the drive. According to the Blood Centers’ website, “… at some point we will all know a friend, neighbor, family member, or co-worker who needs a blood transfusion. In fact, 1 out of 3 people will need blood in their lifetime. From natural disasters to unforeseen catastrophes, emergency hospital procedures to life-long battles with chronic diseases such as sickle cell, the demand for blood is constant. The supply is not. And since there is no substitute, only volunteer blood donors can roll up their sleeves and save lives.” If you are interested in being a blood donor, call the parish office 612.529.9684.
