On Tuesday, Jan. 18, the Minneapolis City Council BIHZ committee is expected to vote on recommendations for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund for the coming year. Emerson Village, planned for 18th and Emerson Ave. N, is recommended to receive more than $1.5 million!
The Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative is hosting a watch party via Zoom at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday to listen for the discussion and the vote. Register here for the zoom link. You don’t have to be a Minneapolis resident to join the watch party. All are invited to pop in any time and bring your questions.
The project was turned down in December of 2020 in spite of ranking #4 of all the proposals. In fact, only 18% of the apartment units funded that year were to be affordable for people who make below $30,000 – clearly the greatest need in Minneapolis!
