The Hennepin County Environment and Energy Department is looking for people interested in becoming involved in its new Apartments Recycling Champion Program. This is a paid position. Champions will help motivate and educate their neighbors, provide tips, and answer waste reduction and recycling questions. Champions may conduct a range of activities, such as distributing educational materials, monitoring trash and recycling areas for contamination, or setting up an organics recycling program in their building. No prior recycling knowledge is needed to apply, just enthusiasm for waste reduction and recycling! Champions will receive training and have regular contact with Hennepin County staff for help. Participants must be 18 years or older and live at an apartment or other multifamily building with five or more units in Hennepin County. Champions will be compensated for their time at $250 for eight hours of work per month for a six-month term. The deadline for application is April 3. Learn more.
