I have had the honor of serving as Parish Administrator since 2001. Serving in this position brings many wonderful experiences, the most important being the opportunity to meet and interact with so many faith-filled, kind and humble people in our parish, school and neighborhood. My day-to-day work includes working with all facets of parish life including liturgy, pastoral care, school, social justice, faith formation, finances and buildings. I truly experience Church of the Ascension as a sanctuary of hope and faith, and I look forward to our continued ministry together.

I have been a part of the Ascension community for many years and a staff member since 2008. It is my privilege to journey with this very diverse community, and most closely with the Spanish speaking members of our congregation. I have a deep passion for intercultural ministry, faith formation, and leadership development and immigration reform. Our parish motto, “life in abundance,” is a personal one as well – that’s what I find here at Ascension!

I began my work and ministry here at Ascension in 2010, after serving at the former Church of St. Philip from 1997-2008. As Pastoral Associate, I work in many and varied ministries, including Liturgy and Worship, Hospitality, Faith Formation, Pastoral Care and Outreach. My ministry allows me the opportunity to work with the many beautiful people in our parish, in our school, and in our neighborhood. I greatly appreciate and celebrate the wonderful diversity of our parish and the people we serve. Together we share life in abundance as we reflect the beautiful face of God to one another and to the North Side community we call home.

In the last few months before retirement from my full-time position as a Parish Business Administrator at the Church of the Assumption in Richfield, I had the great good fortune to be offered a position at Ascension, my life-long and well-loved parish. Since 2006, I have been privileged to hold the part-time position of Finance Coordinator, working with the incredible staff of this wonderful parish. My responsibilities include recording receipts, overseeing and managing accounts payable, preparing financial statements, preparing various reports, serving as liaison with the bank, meeting and participating actively with the parish staff, and doing special projects as directed by the Parish Administrator. I feel particularly blessed to work with this competent, loving staff, serving this great parish.

I have been a parishioner at Ascension since August of 2007 and a parish employee since August of 2009. As the full-time Finance Coordinator, I’m responsible for organizing and overseeing the quarterly forecasts and annual budget process; managing the financial portion of the school’s student database; maintaining the general ledger; completing certain elements of the payroll process; supervising the volunteer money counters; and other various accounting functions. Ascension Church is my second home, where I thrive spiritually and enjoy great friendships. I couldn’t be happier than to work with fellow parishioners for a church that means so much to me and a school that makes such a significant contribution to our community!
My job is to cook a meal for 150 kids at the YMCA the third Wednesday of every month, organize and set up funeral lunches, work in the food shelf, keep the candles in church fresh, work in the Peace Garden, cook dinner the third Saturday of every month for the Older and Wiser Supper Club, and give out bread and sweets at the end of Mass every Sunday. I came into the church April 3, 2010, and I’ve been working here since June 1, 2011. I love my church and job!

In 2008, I began my ministry at Ascension after 26 years working for the central offices of the archdiocese. I am the office administrator, human resources coordinator for both the parish and school, and the assistant to Patricia Stromen. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, along with my colleagues, our varied constituents.

I have been gifted with the job of Faith Formation Director since 1998. A new facet of my job, is being able to work with adults who wish to become members of the Catholic Faith through the process of RCIA. Our Faith Formation Program for English-speaking parishioners is a consolidated program with the parish families of Our Lady of Victory and the Parish Community of St. Bridget. My job is to work closely with our volunteer teachers and staff and all children and parents in our K-9 program and all who are preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation. No job could be better than to know that someone’s soul has been touched by God and that I have been touched by both!

I have been a parishioner of Ascension since the late 1970s and have worked on staff as the receptionist for more than 10 years. I have the privilege to greet and welcome all who come to the doors and call on the phone, something I very much enjoy doing. I have a strong respect for the parishioners of Ascension and the community we are located in. Ascension is my sanctuary and haven for worship and fellowship.

My job at Ascension has been a blessing in my life. I began a second career here in fall of 2013 after thirty years as a newspaper journalist. My family and I have been parishioners here since 2008. I am in charge of communications, including the website and all publications, at Ascension. I also am the keeper of the database of parishioners and donors; I track contributions and prepare acknowledgement and tax statement letters. I also support the Director of Development in other events and activities. I am honored to work with such supportive colleagues, and I’m lucky to see the sweet faces of our school children every day.

I joined the staff at Ascension in 2012 and am blessed to be able to further the mission of such an incredible school and parish. My role is to connect our community with supporters who give of their time, talent and treasure to help make our mission possible. I help donors, volunteers, sister churches and institutions find a place where their philanthropy can have an impact. My career in development spans 20 years, and I am blessed that I can put to good use my passion for drawing people together to build community and make a difference at Ascension.
