Join us in prayer and song Wednesday from 5:30 – 7 p.m. on the front plaza of The Basilica of Saint Mary to mark Juneteenth. Gather around the powerful Let The Oppressed Go Free Sculpture on front plaza of The Basilica. Join Church of the Ascension and The Basilica Immigrant Support Ministry as we raise our voices in song and prayer in a vigil for those who have been subjected to the trauma of human trafficking. We will hear stories of those who have experienced this trauma. We will encourage each other, as we pray for healing and transformation of our community. Human trafficking occurs when a trafficker uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting labor or services against his/her will. Force, fraud, or coercion need not be present if the individual engaging in commercial sex is under 18 years of age.
